#3 See Sam Roberts

Let me start off by saying I love Sam Roberts (or I guess I should say now 'the Sam Roberts Band'). I can listen to his CD 'Love at the End of the World' on repeat, and his new album 'Collider' is quickly becoming a favorite too. So when I saw that he was coming to Massey Hall in Toronto, I had to go.

and go I went!

Our seats were excellent, except that I had to sit beside  a random old  couple who seemed to hate music.

Last Saturday, I drove out to Toronto to meet my friends L and M for the concert. It was kind of cool, driving around downtown T.o on a Saturday night. I mean, I've done it lots of times, but I'd never before parked right at Yonge and Dundas Square and proceeded to a rock concert. Yeah, I felt pretty cool in my zippy 'lil Mazda 3 that night.

The concert was amazing. He's a really great performer, and his banter in between songs seemed really genuine, humble, and appreciative. Honestly, Sam Roberts personifies Canada for me. He probably bleeds maple syrup. When I was in England last year, I actually fantasized about going up to people and forcing them to listen to Sam Roberts so they would know the glory of my country. (Please note, I didn't actually go do this. My Canadian citizenship stipulates that I do not bother random people unnecessarily.)

Two minors things though - 1. He didn't play two of my favorite songs (Love at the End of the World and Sundance). So that was too bad. But he did play this one:

(Don't laugh at my filming skills. iPhone is hard.)

and 2. I kind of wish he hadn't cut his hair...

still, minus the hair he remains awesomo.
