Look, man. Right now, I have so many unread
books on my bookshelf and in my audible account that I will probably never need
to go to a library again. I actually just went to count – and I’ve got 15 unread books on the shelf, 3 purchased audiobooks and 4 credits to purchase
more audiobooks. I got no need.
But here’s the thing – I like libraries.
They are quiet, and they remind me of old times – like being a part of the
reading club and getting McDonald's french fry coupons as rewards for finishing
picture books, or researching for school projects back in grade 5 when I still
needed to use Encyclopaedias.
And...well... I just don’t know how well
libraries are doing lately. Internet, and all. So I want to support them
somehow, and I’m hoping that by my just being there on occasion libraries will
continue to be funded.
So on Saturday, I went to a library - the cutest, eensy-est, little library there is. The Locke Street branch of Hamilton Public Library.
I didn't take anything out, I only sat and browsed a few magazines. But I was glad to see that this little library seemed to be thriving - there were tons of people coming through. It really had that 'community' kind of feeling to it.
I was actually there because I was waiting to see a potential apartment down the street. I am kind of on the fence about it at the moment, but the fact that this charming little place is practically next door is definitely in the pro column.
On an unrelated note, I'm trying out a new style thing for this blog, going with extra large pictures. Now you can all see how terrible a photographer I am!
