I like the idea of gardening, and I love
starting new gardening projects, but I often don’t follow-through on all the
extra steps some plants require like fertilizing, regular watering, pruning,
and so on. I forget, or I'm lazy.
So luckily for me, catnip is a type of mint, and grows like a weed
with very little help.
On one of my seed shopping binges in the spring, I came across some catnip seeds and immediately I had one of these
domestic fantasies where I’d grow and dry my own catnip from seed, hand sew
little vintage-y looking, somewhat ironic toys for cats that I’d sell for a
mildly offensive price in hipster shops on Etsy, and become a world-renowned crafty hipster genius
business owner.
Now, I haven’t really had a chance to start
up my kitty narcotics ring business yet, but I have grown the product and my cat Lily can
attest that it is quality. She loves it – eats it right off of the
growing plants if I let her. It is always fun to watch her going crazy, rolling
around, pouncing invisible bugs, and doing the ‘Stevie Wonder’ head roll.
