#10 See Adele

Adele.

Is pretty fantastic. A few weeks ago she came to Toronto, bringing the crappy English weather with her. But she made up for it by giving a great performance at the Air Canada Centre, which I was privileged to attend with my friend S. She sounded just like her CD, which is pretty incredible. So incredible, actually, that I will write an acrostic poem:

                  Awesomely good
                  Dreamy
                  Excellently on-pitch
           her  Laugh is hilariously adorable
she's from   England
                   !

Seriously, this girl has the funniest laugh ever. She kept making jokes about herself, in like a quiet humble little voice, then she would end the joke with this huge loud bark of a laugh that just made everything funnier.

The zoom on my iPhone is kind of lame. But that's her.

Really, the only thing that was kind of sucky about the concert was the venue. She said herself that this was her first time playing an arena. And it should probably be her last time...her type of music just isn't meant for a huge audience like that. Half of her banter in between songs I couldn't understand, because she either spoke too quietly, or because the speakers made her voice just boom and echo so much that it was all distorted. Originally, the concert was supposed to be at Kool Haus in Toronto - I've never been but I think the smaller more intimate space would have suited Adele way better.

One good thing, at least: I bought my tickets when the venue was still Kool Haus and they only cost $30. A few weeks later, Adele EXPLODED and the tickets went up like 120% - so I saved some $$'s.

Also, I ended up sitting in front of Jian Ghomeshi at the concert. He's a radio host on the CBC. For a radio host, I'd say he's fairly well known...maybe....Anyways, it wasn't so much his 'celebrity' that makes this interesting enough to write about, it was just cool because his being there kind of brought things full-circle for me: the first time I ever heard Adele was when I was randomly listening to his radio show "Q", and she sang "Don't You Remember" live. I couldn't believe it wasn't a recording that had been artificially enhanced or something, and thats when I bought her CD, then the tickets to her show. Good job wrapping things up with a nice little bow, universe!
